"The Elements of Style, Fourth Edition" (William Strunk Jr., E.B. White, Roger Angell)
Of, if only....
William Strunk and E.B. White, in their highly-regarded book, The Elements of Style, say:
"Write with nouns and verbs, not with adjectives and adverbs. The adjective hasn't been built that can pull a weak or inaccurate noun out of a tight place."
[From A.Word.A.Day--riant]
I can at least make the attempt, feeble as it may be.
What a stilted stuffy composition guide. And yet, it sells! I like AdiĆ³s, Strunk and White. It's fum and updated. For other matters, The Chicago Manual is awesome.
However, blogging is fast writing. Seldom is there a chance to elaborate a post, is there? It's a shame I am too lazy to type using simple conventions. Blame it on my old age.
I actually don't have a copy, and haven't read it for years, since college probably. Is it a relic of the cold war?
