I wondered if this announcement from November, 2006, would impact my movie viewing, but apparently, Netflix is purchasing Weinstein Company releases and renting them out anyway. I've noticed a couple of Weinstein Company films with a disclaimer at the beginning that reads something like, "This film for Sale Only". I imagine Netflix gets bulk rates on the purchase of DVDs from other studios, perhaps Netflix just decided to buy Weinstein Company films at retail price?
Viva capitalism!
Hello, Seth:
I am a faithful renter at Vidiots. Vidiots opened in 1989 and I was number 50 to join, for 50 dollars lifetime membership. I ahve a free video on my birthday. By now I am profiting. They have a vast collection of vintage and foreign VHS or DVDs. The store has expanded and offers some taks, such as one on "Derrida". It's a social outing that is kinda free.
Just a cameo apperarance to say hi. It''s hard to keyboard and th escreen light is bothersome. I'll keep you posted.
I'd heard of Vidiots for some reason, even though it only looks like they are in LA. There was a quality video store in Austin that I frequented, Vulcan VIdeo. Here in the Big Spud though, there weren't any good video stores nearby (only Blockbusters). I'm happy though that Netlix is around, their selection is vast.
Maybe you read about Vidiots somewhere. They were a puny store. They have expanded but not to the point of horrible service. Sometimes there are talks there.
When you come to Los Angeles, I'll take you there.
