"Three from the Vault" (Grateful Dead)
There are jokes to be made here, instead, maybe I'll just say maybe a good spot to hold a future 4-20 celebration
Surviving members of the Grateful Dead have decided to give the group's archives to a university library in Santa Cruz, Calif., which some Silicon Valley executives hope to help turn into a mecca for "Deadheads" and scholars.
The trove to be transferred to the University of California at Santa Cruz includes photos, artwork, press clippings, posters, letters, backstage passes, ticket stubs and other documents assembled by the band over 30 years, as well as memorabilia and other objects sent to the group by fans. It doesn't include the Dead's huge vault of live recordings, which continue to spawn new releases and generate revenue.
Rock artifacts are collected and exhibited by institutions such as the Experience Music Project and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. But collections in a university setting are more unusual. And the Dead, known for helping to define the San Francisco psychedelic sound, gathered an unusually large amount of material that reflects the artistic and social experimentation that began in the 1960s.

Plans for the archives are expected to be formally announced at a press conference Thursday at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, where the Dead frequently played.[From Grateful Dead Members Give Archives to UC Santa Cruz - WSJ.com]
It must be my fault. I just don't dig the Dead. I don't get it, couldn't care less; they are to me what Jefferson Airplane was: just another band. No insult, just personal taste. Jimi, yes, Janis, yes, Jim Morrison, yes.
Yeah, everyone's tastes vary. I don't really care much for Janis Joplin to be honest, even though she is revered by so many. I've never had the remotest urge to be a Deadhead, but I do like some of their country-jazz-rock stylings.
